Opensocial

Google is coming out with a new API called opensocial.  This blog is about my journey into the world of online networking.

Although, I have been a member of Linkedin for several years. I really don’t know what the application is capable of doing.  What I know in Linkedin is how to sign up for free, invite others to connect and provide recommendations.  I really don’t know how to use the application and take advantage of each features.  Why don’t I learn all its features? Well, like learning all the features in Microsoft Word or Excel, I don’t have time.  I know enough to get by.

Now, Google is developing this opensocial api that is suppose to make it easier for developers to write an application for social networking.  I attended the first and second Hackathon around opensocial to find out who is doing what.  What I found out is that there are many startup, such as, Hi5, Ning, Facebook, etc.  They all have their own way of creating applications that revolve around their containers.  The opensocial initiative by Google is suppose to provide a better way of developing software around all these containers.

I will blog about my experiences in learning these technology.
